#230603 Across the River

Sometimes you gotta run…..I was sitting on my porch watching the thunderstorms roll through yesterday afternoon, catching sight of a direct bolt hitting the biggest tree in the front yard, causing me to jump ten feet in the air lol. And then just as fast as the front came in, it started to clear out, right at sunset. I could immediately see from my porch, there was some really great light going on.
So I jumped as fast as I could in the car, to seek out a scene to pair it with. I frantically drove to this spot “across the river” as my dad used to say, and quickly jumped out to compose this image before the light was gone. I only had time to shoot a couple compositions, before it started to fade. But I got this shot, which I’m quite pleased with. I love how the tree frames the best of the colorful sky, with multiple leading lines throughout the scene, the low lying fog in the distance, and the colors reflecting off the still wet road.
This spot means so much to me in so many ways, walking and biking this road to the swim hole for years as kids, to my parents bringing us to watch the deer in the fields eating from the apple orchards, or driving for the first time on a paved road, to hiking and skiing all the woods and hills you can see in this image, and my cousin’s family home nearby:)
