#230310 Harry Rodgers Barn in Winter

Harry Rogers barn, with fresh snow and blue skies, taken yesterday morning as the storm was clearing out.
"Harry Rogers lived until 82 years of age. He was born and lived on his family farm his entire life. Rogers lived with his niece, Betty Jackson. This was a farm that was worked by the Rogers Family for 200 years...Dating back to 1780, ten years before Bartlett became an incorporated town. Sadly in 1980, the entire farm and barns, less this one, burned to the ground. What had stood for 200 years was gone in just 2 hours."
I often admire this barn when passing by, and recall how Harry in his elder years, would sit just inside the doors of this old barn, enjoying the coolness of it and simply watching the world go by. I fondly remember hot summer days as a young child, when dad would pull over, and we’d get out and stand in the shadow of the barn, enjoying the cool shade and talks with Harry. Dad did the same in his later years, sitting just inside his own garage, enjoying the shade, and we would sometimes talk about Harry and his barn, doing the same. Sweet memories:)
