I decided to head up to the Kancamagus Highway, to see if the smoke coming cfrom the California wildfires would help create an unusual sunrise. And it did, with an atomic colored half sun (see #200901), to go with a soft pink sky. It also helped me to gauge the foliage at this spot, which was surprisingly quite advanced for this early. So I returned less than a week later, with the smoke cleared, and was greeted with this other gorgeous sunrise, with the foliage at peak:).
