Moonrise over Squam Lake, New Hampshire: The Algonquin tribes knew this Moon as a time to gather ripening strawberries. It is also known as the Rose Moon and the Hot Moon...I hiked Rattlesnake Mt. in Holderness, set up my tripod, and composed my image where the moon would rise. I sat and enjoyed the warm evening breeze and the solitary song of a wood thrush. The moon soon climbed over the ridge, glowing beautiful orange as it began to rise. |
